ZAPP

ZAPP - s/t LP (1980)
This is simply something to get your ass moving, no matter what shape you’re in.
Everyone knows the classic funk track “More Bounce To The Ounce”, but when’s the last time you really heard it? The album opens with a 9-minute version of it, and I swear, I involuntarily shot my wad three times during one listen, on a bike ride home a few weeks ago.
The rest of the album is surprisingly varied, and while no other tracks quite come close to the genius of “More Bounce To The Ounce”, they don’t really need to, do they?
It’s redundant to say that there’s a strong P-Funk influence on Zapp, but for the uninitiated, it deserves to be mentioned that this record is better than the last few actual P-Funk releases themselves, like Funkadelic’s “Uncle Jam Wants You” (1979) and Parliament’s
“Trombipulation” (1980).

This will definitely get your ass up and moving. Guys were rocking this on boomboxes and out the windows of iroc-zs up and down the streets around my high school for years! Love it! Another great share.

Track 7 “Do Wah Diddy” (possibly Do Wah Ditty) is fantastic - I think even better than More Bounce…. Do you know what year it is from?
Thanks,
Ray
